There are so many options for people who are looking to embark on a digital nomad adventure. Now it’s just a matter of getting started!
One of the exciting benefits of being a digital nomad is the ability to travel anywhere you want to, so long as your income permits it (we’ll get to that in a minute).
That means you’re not limited to staying inside the United States if that’s your home country. You have the freedom to expand your horizons to the international level, and travel to new places any time you wish.
And if you like what you discover, you can plant “roots” in any country that allows you to set up residence. (Exploring these legalities is beyond the scope of this email).
With that in mind, a recent study by InsureMyTrip shared some potential ideas.
5 Destinations to Consider on Your Digital Nomad Journey
Ever thought about “living your dream” in Norway? What about Mexico? Germany? Portugal? How about Iceland?
Those are the top 5 destinations ranked by: Internet download speed, average rent, hours to learn a language, remote working visa cost, and several other factors.
You might be surprised to learn that Barbados, a popular tourist destination, doesn’t rank very high on the list. Spain barely cracks the top 10.
The study also focused on the idea of “working remotely,” which requires a work visa so you can stay in the country of your choice. That might be a good choice for millions of people who already work for someone using digital technology.
But the maximum amount of freedom, the true opportunity, and the best way to gain all the benefits of being a digital nomad come from income streams generated by owning your own business(es).
Which also means…
You Must Avoid This BIG Trap
Being free to earn what you want, do what you want, and travel anywhere you want sounds great. But there are two traits you need to master to avoid falling into something Dave Cook called the “freedom trap.”
The gist of this idea suggests that the following “price” must be paid to enjoy the freedom that being a digital nomad can provide:
“[…] digital nomadism is not always experienced as autonomous and free but is a way of living that requires high levels of discipline and self-discipline. […] digital nomads often overlook the role of disciplining practices when first starting out, and do not foresee how working in sites of leisure and tourism might make managing a balance between work and non-work problematic.”
If you want to get serious about mastering both, you can start by registering a business and learning to use resources that can help you from anywhere in the world.
What better way to learn self-discipline and gain high levels of income generating discipline than starting and managing a stream of income?
But devoting time to filling out paperwork, filing forms, and staying in compliance with tax authorities can be tedious.
The good news is there’s an easier way…
Start Your Journey as a Disciplined Digital Nomad Here
Every state has its own rules. And if you want to set up a business in a state you don’t live in, there are even more rules and requirements to comply with.
If you want to travel the U.S., or anywhere else in the world, then you want access to fast business registration and related services that can “travel with you.”
I thought long and hard about this over the last year and finally decided to do something about it. That’s why I created Business Anywhere — a turn-key service for setting up a new business (the right way), staying in compliance, and more.
How it works: You fill out a simple form. Then we take care of all the unique requirements of the state you’ve registered your business in.
Which means you can have a “nomad-friendly” business registered in just a few minutes. Then you can start enjoying location independence, gain tax advantages, and a whole lot more without the headaches.
When you take advantage of Business Anywhere, in addition to lightning-fast business registration, you’ll also gain access to:
- The services of a registered agent who will handle administrative details and make sure your business stays in compliance. You can then focus on growing your business without worrying about missing a filing deadline.
- A physical address for your mail that you can access from anywhere in the world. With our state-of-the-art Virtual Mailbox, we’ll scan your physical mail and upload it to your personalized dashboard. (No junk mail).
- When you need a notary for legal documents, our “pay as you go” remote online notary works from anywhere in the world, by:

P.S. To start your own digital nomad business you would normally have to figure out everything on your own, fill out a lot of paperwork, and hope you didn’t overlook some arcane detail buried on the state’s website.
All of that on TOP of mastering the discipline required to operate a business. But now you can use the turn-key resources I’ve created to get started fast…
